No new taxes over the next five years, reduction in water tariffs, sanitation tariffs and the introduction of new technologies for waste treatment are among the main promises made by Congress in its manifesto, which was published today before the Municipality’s survey.
âThe grueling increase in water charges and other charges imposed by the BJP-run company will be reversed. Congress will reduce old sanitation rates to Rs 20 per toilet seat. Addressing a press conference, city congressman Subhash Chawla said, âCongress will increase the income of the corporation by claiming its fair share of UT revenues allocated by the Finance Commission of Delhi and by taking other initiatives without taxing the population. The party will also cut all unnecessary spending, which caused the company funds to dry up despite a tax increase imposed by the BJP.
