ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet on Thursday approved the continuation of the preferential RLNG tariff of $9 per MMBTU for five export-oriented sectors for the current fiscal year 2022-23.
The ECC has also authorized the Ministry of Home Affairs to release the funds of Rs 1 billion allocated for the Rawat-Faizabad Metro to the Ministry of Housing and Works for the execution of five development projects. This was done to win the support of political allies.
The programs include 65 development schemes of Tharparkar at a cost of Rs450 million, development schemes for community home solar power system in various UCs of Tehsil Mashkhel and Basima Washuk district at a cost of Rs200 million, construction of Blacktop Road Hassan Goth Sunni District Kachhi at a cost of Rs45.574 million, Kharan development package for NA-268 at a cost of Rs48 million and Shangla Road Water Supply development at a cost of Rs256.426 million.
In a summary approved by the ECC, an amendment was proposed by the Ministry of Petroleum stating that pursuant to ECC and Cabinet decisions, the Petroleum Division directed SNGPL and SSGCL that “the RLNG would provided at a cost of $9 per MMBtu all inclusive to five export oriented sectors across Pakistan for all remaining existing connections with the allocation of a total subsidy of Rs 40 billion as already done by the Division of finances in the budget. The tariffs will be effective from August 1, 2022.”
The ECC also approved another summary from the Department of Commerce requesting a change in the earlier ECC decision dated 25-07-2022 on regionally competitive energy tariffs for export-oriented sectors during fiscal year 2022-23 and authorized an amendment that “the electricity tariff will be effective from August 1, 2022, while the RLNG tariff will be effective from July 1, 2022.”

The ECC reviewed and approved a summary from the Ministry of Industries and Production and authorized the payment of a planned net salary of Rs 1,378 million for the financial year 2022-23 to be paid monthly to the employees of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) through a technical supplement. to agree. This decision will ensure the payment of the monthly salary to the employees. The ECC has also approved additional technical grants of Rs 30.888 billion for the Defense Division and Rs 1 billion for the Ministry of Housing and Works.
