BJP Demands Reduced Electricity Charges by Holding Dharna at NPDCL Headquarters in Hanamkonda on Wednesday

Hanamconda: Dozens of BJP activists led by party district chairman Rao Padma staged a protest with electronic gadgets like TV, washing machine, fan and others against the sharp rise in electricity tariff in front of the NPDCL headquarters in Nakkalagutta here on Wednesday.

They demanded that the Electric Discoms reverse the rate hike and warned they would step up the unrest if the TSNPDCL failed to reduce electricity charges. State Party Secretary General Gujjula Premender Reddy, former MPs M Dharma Rao, Jaipal, state leaders Chada Sirnivas Reddy and others participated in the dharna which caused mild tension as police tried to disperse them.

Speaking on the occasion, Rao Padma alleged that the state government had placed a heavy burden on ordinary people with the sharp hike in electricity tariffs and TSRTC bus fares. She also demanded that the state government release pending dues to discoms to save them and help them lower the electricity tariff as the hike weighs on commoners.
